You eat WHAT for breakfast?
If you lived in California 250 years ago, there was no
cereal, pop-tarts, or toast for breakfast!

Imagine how these foods would taste right after waking
up:
- Salmon, mussels and tuna. The Chumash Indians living on the
coast had to catch their breakfast before they could eat it!

- Cactus pear juice or honey mesquite blossom juice. People living
in the desert might have sipped on these sweet drinks from plants that
grow in the desert.

- Acorn mush. Indians and farmers in the Central Valley made
acorn mush. Acorn mush is similar to oatmeal. It was made by
heating water and ground acorns in a basket. Fruit and meat were
added to the mush for more flavor!

Do you think your parents and grandparents as kids ate
the same things you eat for breakfast? It would be interesting
to ask them!
