Brian was flying in a single-engine plane to visit his father. The pilot flying the plane had a heart attack and the plane crashed into the Canadian wilderness.

"He [Brian] was sitting in a bushplane roaring seven thousand feet above the northern wilderness with a pilot who has suffered a massive heart attack and who was either dead or in something close to a coma. He was alone. In the roaring plane with no pilot he was alone. Alone."

A heart attack is a serious medical problem that in the worst situations can cause death. Today we are going to learn about heart attacks and how you can prevent them, but first we need to know how the heart works!
