Do I have to register?

Yes.  We ask all teachers to register to help us with scheduling In-Class lessons and keeping in contact during the school year.  Your contact information will NOT be shared with any other organizations, sponsors or third parties.

What are my responsibilities as a teacher?

It’s simple!  Register, stay in contact with the health educators, complete a teacher time sheet and have students complete the Web Based lessons (preferably prior to the In-Class lessons).

How much time do I have to set aside for my students?

Just 1 hour per month and that’s it!  For example: 15 minutes for each Web Based lessons (2 per lesson), 30 minutes for the In-Class lesson.  You are more than welcome to incorporate more nutrition based education for your students.

What is the Teacher Time Sheet?

The Teacher Time Sheet is how Nutrition Link receives its funding from the USDA’s Food Stamp Program through the California Department of Public Health’s Network for a Healthy California.  Before the In-Class lesson, the health educator will present you with a time sheet.  Please log in the hour(s) you and/or your students spent interacting or participating in any nutrition education activity for the prior month.  At the end of the lesson, the health educator will pick up the time sheet.  After each quarter (3 months), the health educator will input all the hours you logged onto one document for you to verify and sign.  The document will be logged and/or submitted to the California Department of Public Health’s Network for a Healthy California.  The reported hours help Nutrition Link continue its FREE nutrition education curriculum to your students.

How long are the In-Class lessons?

Each lesson is 30 minutes taught by 2 health educators.  The health educators will review the previous lesson before introducing the new interactive lesson.  Students will participate in skits/ demonstrations, complete worksheets and have a sample test tests of fruits, vegetables and/or healthy snacks.

What should I do if my student(s) has/have food allergies?

Prior to the In-Class lessons, the health educators will be sending emails about the lesson to be taught as well as the foods that will be sampled.  Please notify the health educators of the allergies.

Is the schedule posted anywhere?

Yes, the schedule is posted on our web-site.You can view/download a PDF version of the calendar by clicking here.
Email reminders are usually sent to each teacher a few days before the scheduled date.
